Nutrition

Based on extensive testing in major metropolitan school districts, our studies prove that by combining exciting carton graphics, flavor choices and simple marketing, schools can improve meal line participation and increase milk sales up to 34%. While sales increase with plastic bottling, the costs result in a loss of about $6 per student per year. With our enhanced gable top packaging program, sales increase and result in income of $3 per student per year. No Plastic! It's Paper Baby!

Plastic packaging claims to deliver similar sales results as paper.  However, do plastic bottlers educate you about the costs, or tell you that paper cartons retain temperatures longer, and retain the flavor and nutritional value of milk?

1. Plastic bottles do not compact as well as paper cartons, and require more than twice the landfill space.
2. Plastic bottles do not effectively block light and retain temperatures, but paper cartons block up to 96% of light and work to retain the temperature, flavor and nutritional value of milk. Milk packaged in paper cartons remains colder in distribution, on delivery trucks and on the student’s tray.
3. In fact, within just 24 hours, a plastic bottle of skim milk can lose 14% of its riboflavin and 90% of its added Vitamin A.
