Concerned with the unsanitary way cream was delivered from the farm to the creamery, John Cherry invented a jacketed cream can in 1880 that would insulate the product from extreme hot and cold. At about the same time, David Burrell decided to start supplying equipment to the dairy industry. It didn’t take long for these two packaging innovators to come together and form the Cherry-Burrell Corporation. Ever since that event, the company began to create a history filled with market-leading innovations in liquid food packaging. In fact, for more than a century, Cherry-Burrell was known the world over for quality equipment in packaging, processing, ice cream freezers and fluid handling lines. In 1991, International Paper acquired the filling equipment line of Cherry-Burrell, merged it with their Beverage Packaging Business and changed the company’s name to Evergreen Packaging Equipment. Since then, we have formed a strong combination offering complete packaging solution systems with machines, parts, service, packaging and integrated systems. However, throughout the many changes in our more than 125 year history, one thing has never changed...our commitment to maintaining the quality and extending the shelf life of beverages and processed liquid food products.
In 2007, the Rank Group purchased International Paper's Beverage Packaging Business, of which Evergreen Packaging Equipment was a part. Shortly thereafter, the Rank Group also purchased Blue Ridge Paper Products, jointly forming Evergreen Packaging Group. Evergreen Packaging Group is working to bring you superior packaging and filling systems including filling machines, cartons, spouts, and expert service and engineering support.
